About

Mary Roberts
I grew up in the Burren, Co Clare, my playground....the limestone rock formations and my go to place....the sea, better known today as The Wild Atlantic Way!
That question, "were you always an arty child?" is often asked of artists and the answer is usually, Yes! For me it involved constructing houses from cardboard boxes to drawing anything that stood still long enough.
It took until 2008 to fulfil my dream (as a mature student) of attending art college. This experience introduced me to many new artists, their styles and of course, lifelong friendships with many other like minded people. In 2014 I was awarded a BA in Art & Design from CCAM, GMIT. Since then I have continued with my art practice whilst at the same time facilitating weekly Adult Art Classes and Summer Art Camps for children.
My love of painting began with oils, a love that will always be present. In 2017 I began experimenting with Alcohol Inks and have achieved a unique way of creating with them. Their unpredictability can be both frustrating and rewarding, but never boring! I am constantly challenging myself to find new methods and techniques in which to use them keeping my work both contemporary and fresh.
Most of my Alcohol Ink paintings are on ceramic tiles. To view what is available through the website here is a link. Some are available as Limited Edition Prints and Open Prints and can be viewed here and here.
